So here I continue to lay in SNF and I haven’t been cleared yet by the doctors to get off bedrest but maybe today will be the day! Yesterday I completed the dangle protocol with physical therapy and will hopefully see someone from the plastic surgeon’s team today to figure out what’s next. Still don’t have a target discharge date but at this point I think I should be able to go home soon and continue IV antibiotics from home. Pain management continues to be a real struggle but I am feeling well enough to work a few hours a day now, which is a good distraction.

It’s amazing to me how many people seem to think I should be on disability to let the state pay my salary or be filing the victim of crime act, etc. I love what I do and have considered myself really lucky to be able to keep working through all of this and it’s a great distraction from the pain and helps keep my mind sharp but I guess most people just don’t think that way. I have started talking to an attorney to help sort out the claim with my auto insurance company and get involved with some of these ridiculous bills that BC is paying out of network which means the provider can bill anything they want above what “reasonable & customary” fees are according to Anthem. It’s really quite an infuriating process.

In other news, I’ve been starting to think about buying a house/condo again and have been spending some time on Zillow and Trulia to see what’s in the area. That kind of virtual shopping can be fun but also quite difficult since there are so many areas I haven’t explored yet and sadly I can’t afford to buy in my current neighborhood.

That’s about all that’s new here and let’s hope that we get some idea of a plan and when I can go home soon.

Thanks for reading!
